Body Oil

by Valerie Gladstone — October 31, 2007

For those who don't want to make their own body oil, there are certainly a number of good ones on the market. Here are some of my friends' favorites:

  • International Orange Anoint has a scent of white lotus, jasmine, and green tea ($45 at www.iowebshop.com)
  • Agent Provacteur Sensual Ylang Ylang offers a fragrance that is spicy and rich, and the formula absorbs immediately ($55 at www.sephora.com)
  • Darphin Aromatic Bath and Body Oil smells like lemon, pepper, rosemary, and sage in a base of jojoba--you only need a few drops ($70 at www.darpin.com)
  • Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt is also a good hair and scalp treatment ($48 at www.nordstrom.com)
  • Organic Apoteke Body Hydrate Oil is an herbal-citrus blend of Sicilian orange and mandarin in an ultra-fine mist($47 at www.organicapoteke.com)
  • Vaseline Cocoa Butter Gel Body Oil offers almond and Brazil nut extracts in a gel that liquefies as you rub it in ($3 at drugstores)
  • L'Occitane Beauty Body Oil soothes and detoxifies with grape seed oil ($30 at www.sephora.com)
  • The Healing Garden 3-in-1 Body and Massage Oil in Passion Orchid is very hydrating with a wonderful fragrance ($7 at drugstores)
  • Sephora Body Sensuous Oil - Bath And Massage is both soothing and gently scented ($14 at www.sephora.com)
  • Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate helps dissolve tension and raise energy levels with the aromas of refreshing peppermint and soothing blue chamomile; its special roller ball applicator releases the perfect amount of concentrate for on-the-spot, cooling acupressure therapy ($14.50 at www.aveda.com)

What people are saying...

Here are my cents - I use oils and single notes to combine based on my mood. Some times I'll through in a floral or citrus boost from the Demeter notes to change the overall tone from spicy citrus to a smoky floral.Based on the list below you wind up with mostly earthy, smoky, smouldering, woodsy type scents. (my signature scent) I love having a scent that's unique no one else wears that adapts to my mood and since it changes day to day it's never boring to me. A little tiny bit with these goes a long long way too so it saves money! I highly recommend checking out the entire Demeter collection I guarantee you will find some scent that sparks your creative scented spirit! If you have a Whole Foods near by they usually carry them so you can sample them

Ooops - not sure where my head is still waking up... I went off on scents and totally forgot the post was about body oil - I went to look for the oils we use and wound up going off on body scents. Ok time to re-focus

So... more on topic

If you like flowery you might like "Funeral Home" don't let the name fool you.

I even use it myself mixed with woody spicy tones
