![]() An Expert's Shampoo and Conditioner Adviceby Valerie Gladstone — November 21, 2007There's nobody I know more knowledgeable about how to handle hair than hair colorist Penny Errico-Nagar (Penred301@aol.com). Between her and my hair cutter Pepe Gomez, my hair is healthier and more attractive than it has ever been in my life. So I thought why not ask her for good products for all types of hair, expecting she'd come up with salon shampoos and conditioners that you can only purchase at beauty supply shops. That's no problem for me because there's one just a few blocks from where I live, but it is for many others. But Penny surprised me and here's what she said: "Not long ago I was sent some samples of a new product line called Sunsilk, which has become hot across the country. Even though it is sold in drugstores--usually a turn off for the professional hairdresser--I tried it on several clients and gave out some coupons. I also visited a few local drugstores--Rite-Aid, Duane Reade, Walgreen's, and CVS--to see how it was marketed and priced. I was so impressed. The line offers something for everyone, including shampoo and conditioner for frizzy hair, blond- and brown-colored hair, oily and dry, and hair with dandruff. "Without question, it is one of the most complete lines at low affordable prices. Is it the best? Well, it is east to find and it's affordable, and there's a great following of loyal customers. Of course, hair products are so personal. The scent has to be right; it has to work for your particular needs, etc. But at this price [$6 to $10 at drugstores], it is worth a try." If you can get to a beauty supply store or want to order online, she has another recommendation: Framesi's Shine-In Shampoo and Conditioner for basic needs ($10 to $20 at www.roffler.net/pages/framesishine.htm). I'm certainly going to try these. Let me know if you do. Comment on this Post
