First Aid for Beauty Dilemmas

by Valerie Gladstone — November 5, 2007

You know when you catch a look of yourself in a mirror and see your eyeliner has traveled down to your cheek or you're all set to go meet a friend for drinks and your feet hurt so much you just want to go home and put them in a bucket of warm water. Here are some solutions:

  • Eyeliner Smudges--Sephora Makeup Eraser Pen removes smears without greasiness so you can redraw immediately ($12 at Sephora.com )
  • Yellow Teeth--Rembrandt Whitening Touch Up Pen's applicator can reach even where toothbrushes can't ($13 at drugstores)
  • Uncomfortable Shoes--Band-Aid Activ-Flex Blister Block Stick reduces friction and painful blisters; Petals cushion the balls of your feet so you can stand for hours in stilettos ($7 at drugstores)

  • Raw Hands--Cortaid Advanced Long-Lasting Anti-Itch Hand Cream contains one percent hydrocortisone that soothes chapped hands and even seals small cuts overnight ($8 at drugstores)

  • Oily Skin--Rodan + Fields Unblemish Oil Absorb are blot papers that get rid of shines and reduce oil production over time (60 sheets for $19 at rodanandfields.com )

  • Wardrobe Malfunction--Doublesided Hollywood Fashion Tape keeps bra straps in place and even hems skirts without a needle and thread ($7 at hollywoodfashiontape.com )

  • Wrecked Cuticles--One swipe of the Sephora Cuticle Care Pen is all you need ($12 at Sephora.com )

  • Frizz--Try a quick rub of a Ted Gibson Hair Sheet to calm it down (10 sheets $25 at Sephora.com )

What people are saying...

Try this for a painful toes if you don't have a band-aid handy at work: Tear off some of the bubble plastic that's on the inside of an insulated mailer, and wrap it around the blister, or sensitive skin. It really works in a pinch (so to speak!)

smart. nothing worse than walking around with sore feet. another thing you can try is stopping in at the nearest shoe repair shop and asking for aid. they often have the solution.
