Glow Without the Cake

by WiredBerries Editors — April 29, 2008

Sure, you want to look gently kissed by the sun with a natural glow, but not at the cost of caking on color through primer, foundation, and powder oh my. To get a little color without a lot of cake, try a little bronzer. Applied with a heavy hand, bronzer can make you look like beach-Barbie-gone-bad, but done right, bronzer can give you a healthy glow sans sun damage. For a natural look:

  • Bronzer looks best without much or any foundation.
  • With a light hand, apply bronzer to the areas of your face where the sun naturally shines - your forehead, cheek bones, nose, and chin.
  • Choose a shade that is no more than two shades darker than your skin.
  • Match the color to your skin tone -- peach or pink bronzers for fair complexions, copper shades for olive skin tones, and darker shades for dark skin. Orange is never acceptable.

Glow on!
