![]() Light Up Your Smileby Shannon Larsen — April 18, 2008I recently noticed that my pearly whites are actually closer to pearly yellowish. Less than psyched at the idea of ingesting bleach from one of those do-it-yourself kits, I started researching natural ways to brighten my grin. Health.com offers the unlikely pairing of strawberries and baking power as a natural stain remover and whitener. Although it seems counterintuitive to whiten with a red berry, apparently strawberries contain malic acid, which acts as an astringent to remove surface discoloration. Bamboo powder has also been touted as a natural way to buff up those biters.
What people are saying...
I don't know if strawberries change anything, but I asked my dentist about the whole baking power/soda thing since I noticed my teeth getting yellower with age. He said any product (natural or the bleach strips)might work a little if you have stains from coffee, but otherwise your teeth yellow from the inside out. I'd like to find out if you can alter their color change by the foods you injest. Comment on this Post
