![]() Mirror, Mirror on the Wallby WiredBerries Editors — May 14, 2008Recently, a friend of mine was doing my makeup for a Girls Night Out, and she asked me to check out her work mid-way through application. I looked in the mirror and said "Ugh, my eye wrinkles are out of control." My exasperated friend put down the liner brush and took me by the shoulders, "Sweetheart, thank God that no amount of eye liner is going to hide how much laughing you've enjoyed in life. Until you can look in that mirror and embrace what you see, this makeup is just wasted." This candid response to my silly vanity stuck with me and has been replaying in my mind since then. How many times do you look in the mirror and miss out on an opportunity to smile at your reflection? It sounds silly, but it works wonders -- next time you find yourself griping at the pretty lady in the mirror, take a minute to clear those thoughts and smile at the laughing eyes and knowing face you see. Life throws enough at us to keep us honest; instead of being your own worst critic, why not be your own biggest cheerleader! Look at that lovely person and say with a big grin "I look good!"
