![]() A Weekend in Bedby Gwen Cooper — October 13, 2007Following up on Nicholas Allen's blog from yesterday, describing a dream dating weekend in the City, here's my take on an ideal weekend when you have someone to spend the weekend with. Nothing makes me happier than going out on Friday nights. It's the one night of the week where you can simultaneously enjoy the feeling of cutting loose after a grueling day of work as well as the delicious knowledge that you have nothing to get up early for the next morning. The Lower East Side has become one of my favorite haunts as of late, and Robert and I love to have a cab deposit us at a random intersection. We then wander around until we find a bar or restaurant (ideally, a bar that serves great snacks) that grabs us. Once we've found a spot, we'll usually call a few friends and have them come hang with us for a while. We've learned that it's a good opportunity to spontaneously meet our friends' dates—because otherwise, we'd have to wait until somebody "officially" decides to make a formal introduction of a new romantic prospect. I sleep later than usual on Saturdays, but I still get up pretty early—generally no later than 8:00am. I like to go out and grab bagels and juice while Robert sleeps. I'll admit that it isn't really because I'm trying to be a thoughtful girlfriend; I just enjoy walking around New York when hardly anybody else is out yet, so going out for breakfast seems like a perfect plan. Saturday afternoons we'll spend lazily on the couch for a while, before finally heading out to explore some designated part of town. We'll wander around the Village and poke in and out of shops before finding some restaurant for a quiet dinner for two. Sundays we'll usually have brunch with friends we haven't seen much of during the rest of the week, and then maybe see a movie or something like that on Sunday afternoon. Oh—and we like to have lots of sex over the weekends. Weekend sex is even better than the oft-mentioned "birthday sex," in my humble opinion. But you probably already knew I felt that way...
