Give Your Car a Health Makeover

by Valerie Nahmad — September 27, 2007

Traffic is the worst--point blank. Nothing is more frustrating than sitting in brutal bumper-to-bumper traffic. FitSugar helps prevent road rage with its tips for a healthy car makeover. Some of the suggestions are a bit obvious (skip the junk food), but it's useful to see them all in one do & don't list:

  • Do have a new container of water with you at all times.
  • Don't keep an open water bottle in the car--it's a breeding ground for bacteria and germs (ew).
  • Do keep a bag of nuts or an energy bar in the glove compartment--easy, healthful snacks for unexpected delays.
  • Don't keep candy bars or junk food on hand.
  • Do keep your gym clothes in the trunk--one less excuse to skip the gym.
  • Don't plan on going home to get your gear.
  • Do keep some music in your car to pump you up--better tunes, more energy, less road-rage.
  • Don't sit in silence or listen to slow music while stuck in traffic--sleepiness and laziness are virtually guaranteed.

What people are saying...

Got a road rage tip to share? Healthy cars are great, but healthy minds in healthy cars are even better. I oddly find talk radio more soothing than music sometimes - check out NPR next time your nerves are frazzled.
