A Better Gym Bag

by Valerie Nahmad — October 4, 2007

Like any good purse, your gym bag inevitably becomes overflowing with junk. Stuff just seems to sneak its way in there. Cooking Light streamlines the gym bag with a few reminders--some are a bit obvious, but they're all good prompts:

  • Shoes--The right sneakers help avoid blisters, shin splints, and other injuries while flip-flops keep feet extra clean in the shower.
  • Clothes--No major surprises here--stock up on t-shirts, shorts, sports bras, socks, and the like. Synthetic fabrics such as Coolmax and Lycra spandex help keep you dry.
  • Accessories--Bring the best of your bathroom to the gym with pre-moistened cleansing cloths, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, sunscreen, makeup basics, and hair styling products.
  • Sustenance--Bottled water and high-protein snacks (nuts, nutrition bars, trail mix, and so on) keep energy high before, during, and after workouts
