![]() Playtime For Girlsby Cheng-Ling Chen — November 30, 2007Earlier this week, I spent the afternoon with a lovely woman from my S class. N and I have been S-ing together since the beginning of the year. N is beautiful--long brown hair, slender frame, and a derriere that has our S class (full of women, mind you) gawking every time she shakes it in the studio. When she dances, N can be ethereal like a willow branch, but when she heats it up, she is a fireball, a vampress disguised in the body of a fairy. I've been wanting to get to know N better and was happy when she proposed that we go shopping for striptease outfits. We met for lunch before venturing to a boutique called the Foxy Lady. Over rice bowls and iced teas, we talked easily, sharing where we've been, who we are, and what brought us to the S. I felt that wonderful thrill that only comes from making a new friend, whose connection suddenly makes me experience the world anew and see myself in a different light. One of the topics that came up was how while we enjoy dancing for our respective husbands every once in a while (and how they very much enjoy it too), it can't compare to the experience we have when we dance for ourselves. N said that she feels great when she dances for her husband, but she feels high when she gets into the S just for herself. I totally agree. When I am performing for my hubby, my movement is a gift for him. I still feel the beauty and power that my body possesses, but the energy moves outward. When I dance without worrying about a target audience, I am offering myself a moment to just be. The energy tunnels inward, and I feel a deep relaxation that is both trancelike and focused. N and I concluded that while S offers side benefits for spicing up our marriages, learning the S movement is first and foremost something we do for ourselves. We dance because it liberates our body and spirit. We had enlightening conversations like this all afternoon and still managed to find a sparkly sequin number for her and a lavender bob cut wig for me. Can't wait to rock out in class next week!
