Hangover Bath

by Cheng-Ling Chen — January 1, 2008

Happy New Year!

Did you ring in 2008 in style? Feeling the aftermath? Give yourself a bath to take care of any hangover effects. Here is a special recipe from Well Being by holistic spa expert Barbara Close:

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces of carrier oils (you can choose from a wide variety of carrier oils; fancier ones include sweet almond oil and apricot kernel oil, or common ones you probably have in your kitchen like olive oil, coconut oil, or safflower oil)
  • 22 drops of juniper essential oil
  • 28 drops of grapefruit essential oil
  • 8 drops of lavender essential oil

Juniper has detoxifying properties that stimulate the kidney and cleanse the body after a night of overindulgence. Grapefruit eases nausea and provides uplifting effects. Lavender relaxes the nervous system.

Preparation:

  • Fill a glass bottle halfway with your choice of carrier oil
  • Add all other essential oils and shake
  • Add remaining carrier oil, cover and shake again
  • Add 2 to 3 capfuls of the blend (or any amount of your liking) to warm bath

Soak in tub and enjoy! Then drink plenty of water throughout the day.
