![]() How to Tap Into Your Intuitionby WiredBerries Editors — October 25, 2007Intuition is defined as instinctively knowing something without the use of rational processes. Experts have suggested that while it may feel like your intuition comes out of "no where," it is most likely a synthesis of your past knowledge and experiences. You won't consciously know exactly why you feel a certain way, but it's your subconscious' way of warning or advising you based on a whole lifetime of experience. You can ask others for advice, but who really knows who you are and what you want better than you! Listening to this "inner voice" can help you be more true to yourself and more open to getting what you really want out of life. Professional Intuition Coach, Nancy R. Fenn says there are lots of ways to further develop one's natural intuitiveness. Here's an exercise she suggests: "Think of a problem you're having that you'd like guidance on. Stand perfectly still and see what changes first in your environment, i.e., dog barks, curtains blow in the wind, ambulance goes by, baby laughs, leaf falls to the ground, bird fly overhead to the left. Interpret this event symbolically as the answer to the question." Answers you get from this type of mental exercise aren't meant to be "magical" or supernatural divinations, but what they can do is force you to still the logical, rational and very limited neocortex portion of your brain, so other parts of your brain can offer solutions.
