![]() Ski Like the Windby WiredBerries Editors — November 22, 2007As ski season starts in the Colorado Rockies this year, those who enjoy the snow at Vail Resorts will be leaving green tracks. The company owns Colorado's Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone ski resorts, as well as Heavenly at Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border and the Grand Teton Lodge Co. of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and luxury-hotel operator RockResorts. This travel industry giant announced last spring it will reduce dependence on fossil fuels by choosing wind power. As the second largest company in the country to use 100% wind power, the company purchases 152,000 megawatt-hours of wind credits to offset 100% of our electricity use. This decision reduces more than 211 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions each year, which is the same as removing 18,000 cars from the road. Comment on this Post
