Go to Bed!

by WiredBerries Editors — January 25, 2008

Before the invention of the lightbulb, the average American slept between 9 and 10 hours per night! These days, the average hovers around 7 hours of zzzzs, and those are the lucky ones. People who get less than the average have a bevy of health problems in addition to being overtired, including an increased risk of being overweight and a better chance of catching a cold. Do yourself a favor, and go to bed immediately! Need a few tips for getting a good night of sleep:

  • No caffeine in the late afternoon or evening.
  • Listen to soothing music rather than watch TV before bed.
  • Eat dinner a few hours before bed and limit your snacks to complex carbs, which help promote sleep.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 2 hours before bedtime.
  • Create a cool and dark bedroom that is free from TVs, cell phones, and clutter in general.

Put on your favorite comfy pjs, turn down the lights, and curl up under the covers. You can enjoy the glowing skin and feeling of well being that comes with being well-rested!
