![]() United States Ranks Lowest in Preventable Deathsby WiredBerries Editors — January 16, 2008According to the journal Health Affairs, the United Sates ranked worst in preventable deaths due to treatable conditions out of 19 industrialized nations. According to researchers Ellen Nolte and Martin McKee of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, if the United States could reduce amenable mortality to the average rate achieved in the three top-performing countries, there would have been 101,000 fewer deaths per year.
