High-Protein Diet and Weight Loss

by WiredBerries Editors — February 4, 2008

The medical community as well as the media bounces back and forth in the argument for and against high-protein diets for weight loss. A new study reported in the January 2008 issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition provides additional food for thought. The long-term effects of a high-protein (34 percent of their intake) versus high-carbohydrate (64 percent of their intake) diet were studied on 79 middle-age women over a period of 64 weeks. The researchers conclude that a higher protein intake appears to confer some weight-loss benefit. And the debate continues...

What people are saying...

well actually my doctor has put me on a diet plan and its not so much how much of one thing u eat its to balance it...now dont get me wrong protein is important but so is grains...too much of anything though will be stored as body fat so ask your doctor how much of everything you should eat...i went to a nutritionist and since then ive been doing great on my plan
