Co-Worker Relations

by Maria F. Aldana — May 12, 2008

If you spend 40-hours a week with people, you're going to develop a relationship with them. Despite personality conflicts, we all want to be liked by our teammates, and most of us want to contribute to a healthy working environment. Consider these tips for maintaining a happy office:

  • Ask for help if you need it, but don't unnecessarily pile extra work on others.
  • Treat your co-workers with respect and work not to be judgmental.
  • Avoid power trips. What goes around comes around, so treat everyone fairly.
  • Don't let that long-life co-worker discourage you; there is always room for promotions and new challenges.
  • Compliment co-workers on a job well done and make sure to say 'thanks' when they've helped you out.
  • Learn from each other. If you've got a quick tip on how to improve something, why not share?
