New Luxury

by Maria F. Aldana — May 13, 2008

Lifestyles are changing, and the term luxury is starting to have a new meaning than it did even a few years ago. Slowly, luxury is no longer used for cars, seasonal must-haves, and eating at the latest hot spot. Simple living is the new luxury. Materialism is soooo last year!

Old Luxury:

  • Pool in your backyard
  • Electric everything
  • Spontaneous spending
  • Two luxury cars in the driveway
  • High cocktail tabs
  • The latest Chanel or Louis Vuitton bag
  • Brand image
  • Daily coffee breaks

New Luxury:

  • Your own herb garden
  • Solar power
  • Investment buying
  • A bicycle
  • Independent clothing labels (or your own)
  • At-home cocktail bar
  • Baking your own bread from scratch

In which new luxuries do you indulge?
