Latte with a Side of Real Food

by WiredBerries Editors — November 1, 2007

So you went out last night and partied like a, well, you were a rock star for Halloween. Or you stayed in and made fun of how outdated The Exorcist is and then spent the night wide awake. Now you have to get up and try to feel human for the rest of the day. Grabbing a Venti latte on the way to work may help keep you awake long enough to check your email but it isn't going to make you feel better for long. You've heard it a million times, but it's true - breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But what does it mean to eat a "healthy breakfast"? It's pretty basic - protein and fiber. Skip the sugary, greasy, syrupy stuff and try scrambled eggs, soy, or turkey sausage with a side of an apple or orange. Or go non-traditional and grab a hard boiled egg, a plate of baked beans, and a handful of almonds or walnuts mixed in organic fruit yogurt. You'll feel better - maybe even well enough to smile through that morning meeting!

What people are saying...

This is good advice. I feel much better throughout the day and don't get that run down feeling nor become ravenous if I have a breakfast that is heavy on the protein side. If I eat oatmeal then I "crash" early and feel hungry all day. If I have an egg and wholegrain toast or a turkey burger then I can go until early afternoon without needing to eat again.
