Apple Cider Vinegar 1: A Health Essential

by Deborah English — January 7, 2008

Naturally fermented apple cider vinegar retains all of the nutritional value of fresh apples. So what's so healthy about apples then? The humble apple is, in fact, a treasure chest of dietary goodies. Apples contain vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B6, folic acid, and niacin, and are a rich source of the minerals sodium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, and truck loads of potassium. Apples also supply you with beneficial acids including amino acids -- all of which help to keep your digestive tract free from unwanted yeasts and bacteria. As well, apples are an excellent source of fiber which absorbs water, fat, cholesterol, and other toxic substances, and removes it from your body.

However, apple cider vinegar might even have a little "up" on fresh apples. The double fermentation process used to produce apple cider vinegar creates extra enzymes, which is great news for your digestive system. Take a little cider vinegar diluted in pure water about half an hour before meals to improve your digestive strength and increase the amount of nutrients absorbed into your body. What does this mean for you? You get more essential vitamins and minerals, giving you extra energy for healing, cell renewal and growth, and living!

As well as helping you to make the most of the nutrients in your food, many people swear that taking apple cider vinegar before meals has resulted in a slow, steady, and permanent weight loss. This has got to be the easiest way to lose fat ever!

The most healthful apple cider vinegar is made from certified organic apples, is cold-pressed, is not pasteurized, filtered, or diluted, and still contains the "mother vinegar." If this is the case, the fluid will appear cloudy and must be shaken before use to distribute the healthy particles sitting at the bottom of the bottle.

Look after our planet: always try to source locally made products. However, if organic apple cider vinegar isn't produced near you, Braggs certified organic apple cider vinegar is top-notch and widely available.
