Fruit-Tea Punch

by Shauna Sever — March 21, 2008

A long-time diet soda lover, I'm always looking for healthier but still low-calorie alternatives to keep thirst at bay without having to stick to strictly water. I've also vowed to cut back on my caffeine intake, and this refreshing, naturally sweetened fruit juice-tea hybrid fits the bill every time. It's easy to make a big batch and store it in the fridge, but it's equally as delicious served hot as a great way to keep a sweet tooth at bay when the dessert urge strikes.

Fruit-tea Punch
Makes ½ gallon

The original recipe calls for 4 cups water and 4 cups apple juice, but I've changed it up a bit to reduce the sugar and calories. Play with the water and juice ratios to suit your tastes.

5 cups water
4 red zinger tea bags
4 lemon zinger tea bags
3 cups apple juice

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan or tea kettle. Steep all the teabags in the boiling water for about 10 minutes. Discard the teabags and combine the finished tea with the apple juice. Refrigerate until cold and serve, or add ice, or serve hot.
