![]() What Is Your Kitchen Missing?by Laura Donnelly — July 24, 2007Having the right kitchen utensils makes all the difference in the world. You really should have high-quality, VERY sharp knives and know how to use them. The most important to own are one paring knife for small chopping chores, one chef's knife for slicing larger items like roast chicken or a whole cabbage, and a serrated bread knife for....yeah, bread....and tomatoes, mozzarella, and so on. My favorite new kitchen tool is the microplaner. Originally used as a tool in a woodworking shop, this indispensable item is perfect for shaving garlic and zesting lemons and limes and ginger and nutmeg. You can get these handy items with or without a handle. Although it is a little bit trickier to handle, I prefer the one without a handle. If you are cooking with children helping you, it would be best to get the one with the handle. What is your favorite new kitchen tool? Comment on this Post
