What Are Your Favorite Kitchen Gadgets?

by Laura Donnelly — August 21, 2007

If I were to be stranded on a desert island (one that had a nice kitchen and farmer’s market) with only a few cooking tools, here is what I would want to have on hand:

 •  One good chef’s knife or paring knife, super sharp
 •  A microplaner for zesting lemons, grating garlic, and ginger
 •  One good non-stick pan
 •  One casserole for roasting
 •  Some nice white linen napkins to make each meal feel special

Tell us your favorite kitchen tools that you can’t live without!

What people are saying...

How about a butane burner (like the ones caterers use) and a couple six-packs of fuel?

This is good to have for power outages, too, which are a great deal more likely than one being stranded on a desert island, eh?

that is a great suggestion, I have used those for offsite catering and on small boats! What other great suggestions do you have?
