Food Pyramid Conspiracy?

by Laura Donnelly — September 4, 2007

Remember the Food Guide Pyramid? Turns out it was originally designed by the dairy and meat industry. Guess what they wanted you to consume in massive quantities? It was reconfigured in 1991 with more emphasis on whole grains and fruits and vegetables.

Try to keep your pantry stocked with some of these more interesting, healthy, whole grain items: quinoa, Israeli couscous, barley, and brown rice. Remember to keep brown rice in the refrigerator as it goes rancid quickly!
