Good Fat?

by Laura Donnelly — October 3, 2007

Another good lesson to be learned from world-class spas is that there are good fats and bad fats. Feel free to eat avocadoes and nuts like almonds, cashews, and sunflowers. They're good for you! Drizzle olive oil over your mashed potatoes (or better yet, black olive tapenade). Carbohydrates aren't bad for you either, as long as they are complex carbohydrates, like brown rice. Serving some quinoa, farro, or barley is a little more creative than white rice, and these are delicious "ancient grains."

Spa chefs are almost always willing to share their recipes with guests. Feel free to ask them and share those recipes with the rest of us!
