No-Drip Houseplants

by WiredBerries Readers — March 8, 2007

Do you often water your hanging plants only to suffer drips all over your floors or rugs?
Frances Hansen of Auburn, NY, suggests using ice cubes. The soil will absorb the water more slowly, lessening the splash factor. And when she heads out of town for a few days, Frances lines the bathtub with thick layers of newspaper, covers the papers with a few inches of water, and puts her plants in the tub. "They absorb at a slow pace while I’m away," she writes, "and sometimes look healthier than they did when I left!"
