Fresher Asparagus

by WiredBerries Readers — April 27, 2007

It's now asparagus season, and those tasty green stalks will keep for several days if you treat them right, according to Jane Freeman of Chicago, IL. "Fold a paper towel into a square and moisten it with water, then wrap it over the cut ends of a bunch of asparagus while they're still bundled together with a rubber band. Put the stalks in a plastic bag, tie the bag closed, and store the asparagus spears upright in a glass in the refrigerator. Wash the asparagus just before cooking, or the spears may turn slimy."
