![]() Carpet Stainsby WiredBerries Readers — May 7, 2007Jackie Valerius of Stillwater, MN, has several tips for removing stains and spills from carpeting. Try shaving cream: "Foam is good for removing spots," she says, adding that you should wash up with water or club soda. She also recommends salt. "Sprinkle a generous amount and let stand at least an hour before vacuuming." But Tide laundry detergent, in her book, is the best for stubborn carpet stains. "Make a sudsy solution of Tide and warm water. Brush the suds into the stain vertically and horiontally with a soft brush. Blot up the excess with a towel, and repeat if the stain persists."
